About the owner
Martin Hatch is the director, owner and founder of Hatch Solutions.
Martin's primary role is a Solutions Architect, which basically means designing and scoping client solutions, driving best practice both internally and on client projects, and having a deep understanding of the technical framework of SharePoint.
Martin has been involved in IT and software development since before he graduated from Loughborough University in 2003 (where he was awarded a BSc (Hons) in Computing and Management). His enthusiasm has typically been programming (from VB6 and VBA and SQL, through to the .Net revolution (VB.Net) and then embracing C# and eventually SharePoint!), although he has also worn the hat of Systems Administrator, DBA and Systems Engineer in his time (including training courses on Windows Server 2003 administration and managing Windows Active Directory and Group Policy).
In recent years though Martin's passion has definitely been SharePoint, starting out mostly with SharePoint 2003, and through the birthing pains of MOSS 2007. Martin managed to attain all 4 of the MCTS qualifications in SharePoint 2007 in just over 6 months (both the Application Development and Configuration ones for both WSS 3.0 and MOSS 2007) and was among the first people in the world to achieve the Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist: WSS 3.0 Application Development also being awarded Charter Member status.
Martin has spent several years at UK based SharePoint consultancies before joining Content and Code in 2008 as a SharePoint Solutions Architect, where he was involved in the SharePoint 2010 Technical Adoption Programme, and was the lead architect on the RNIB website project which won Content and Code the Microsoft Worldwide Partner of the Year 2010 for Information Worker Solutions, Enterprise Content Management, as well as Microsoft 2010 Country Partner of the Year for the UK.
Martin is a great advocate of the community spirit that SharePoint has, and regularly attends the SharePoint User Group UK (SUGUK) as well as other community activities. He has also been seen speaking at SUGUK, and was one of the speakers at the SharePoint Evolution Conference 2010 (a.k.a. the European Best Practice conference).
Martin maintains an active Blog about SharePoint. If you would like to know more about Martin's professional history, then his profile can found on LinkedIn.
